For the first four months of our daughter's life, one of us was always awake at 3AM — padding down a cold hallway to the kitchen, standing over a kettle while she cried louder in the dark. By the time the milk was ready, we were both wide awake, and settling her again took another hour.
We tried everything. Pre-made bottles we were told to throw out after two hours. Bulky travel warmers that needed an outlet across the room. Nothing let us stay where we actually needed to be: in bed, close to her, calm.
